Check out these things that mentally strong people don\u2019t do so that you too can become more mentally strong.&#8221;<\/em> &#8211; Amy Morin<\/p>\n<p><strong>EXPLORE | Mental Inventory<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Taking inventory is wise.\u00a0 Knowing what you have, where you stand.\u00a0 An appropriate look inward.\u00a0 This list can be the basis of necessary introspection in order to keep from being distracted or unwittingly pulled away from our priorities.\u00a0 It not only can be applied individually, but even consider looking wider toward your team(s) at work, your family, even your small group(s).<\/p>\n<p>Here is the original list of 13:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>They Don\u2019t Waste Time Feeling Sorry for Themselves<\/li>\n<li>They Don\u2019t Give Away Their Power<\/li>\n<li>They Don\u2019t Shy Away from Change<\/li>\n<li>They Don\u2019t Waste Energy on Things They Can\u2019t Control<\/li>\n<li>They Don\u2019t Worry About Pleasing Everyone<\/li>\n<li>They Don\u2019t Fear Taking Calculated Risks<\/li>\n<li>They Don\u2019t Dwell on the Past<\/li>\n<li>They Don\u2019t Make the Same Mistakes Over and Over<\/li>\n<li>They Don\u2019t Resent Other People\u2019s Success<\/li>\n<li>They Don\u2019t Give Up After the First Failure<\/li>\n<li>They Don\u2019t Fear Alone Time<\/li>\n<li>They Don\u2019t Feel the World Owes Them Anything<\/li>\n<li>They Don\u2019t Expect Immediate Results<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>EXECUTE | Mental Focus Assessment<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m calling this an assessment.\u00a0 It is provided as more of a list, even a checklist, but in order to be beneficial it needs to be penetrated a little more.\u00a0 So, I&#8217;ve turned the list above into questions we can consider to help us assess our mental focus:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Am I spending too much time focused on self-doubt, what-ifs, or unnecessarily assuming responsibility?<\/li>\n<li>Am I releasing ground that I am called to\/appointed responsibility over?<\/li>\n<li>Am I resistant to the transformation God is intending for me?<\/li>\n<li>Am I caring for what I am responsible for in a way that keeps me from &#8216;looking over the fence&#8217; or at those things that are beyond my control?<\/li>\n<li>Am I more concerned with gaining the favor of men rather than than pleasing God?<\/li>\n<li>Am I paralyzed by the analysis of my options?\u00a0 Am I unwilling to move even though there is sufficient evidence for a decision?<\/li>\n<li>Am I looking back unnecessarily?\u00a0 An evaluation of what has happened can be beneficial, but there comes a time to take from it what you need to move forward.<\/li>\n<li>Am I not willing or able to make the necessary change(s) to keep from repeating what is clearly not working?<\/li>\n<li>Am I too attracted to the approach or outcomes of peers or colleagues?<\/li>\n<li>Am I easily demotivated by failure?\u00a0 Maybe up the threshold on failure to 5 times as a way to mentally move beyond giving up too soon?<\/li>\n<li>Am I able to spend time alone with my thoughts?\u00a0 With time waiting on God?<\/li>\n<li>Am I expecting something that I don&#8217;t deserve or that will never come?\u00a0 What is the appropriate expectation to have of the world\/others?<\/li>\n<li>Am I being patient enough with the process or people involved in producing the results I&#8217;m waiting on?<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>I think you would agree that we don&#8217;t have a lot of mental focus or energy to waste.\u00a0 Making sure that we don&#8217;t have any &#8216;leaks&#8217; can ensure that we expend our mental focus on those things that are most\u00a0 important&#8211;and wise.<\/p>\n<p>&#8212;<br \/>\nFurther reading:<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.lifehack.org\/articles\/communication\/13-things-mentally-strong-people-dont.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">13 things mentally strong people don&#8217;t do<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/eepurl.com\/bLv-2j\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1040\" src=\"https:\/\/www.wisdominallthings.com\/staging\/3400\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/Wisdom-in-all-things-leadbox-wisdom-delivered.jpg\" alt=\"Sign up for Wisdom In All Things Weekly Email\" width=\"623\" height=\"140\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"&#8220;Mentally strong people have healthy habits.
