My wife and I have settled into a new (to us) TV show. It is focused on the lives of a Navy SEAL Team.
I think the one thing that especially appeals to me about this TV show, and every show or movie about the military, for that matter, is their commitment to willful sacrifice.
And then I look at my own life.
Do I serve in a way that is a sacrifice to me? Is it truly serving if it isn’t? I’m reminded of a quote that says, “If it don’t hurt, it don’t count.” There is some truth in that.
With our youngest leaving for college soon, I am especially mindful of a very simple question we should all be asking ourselves, regardless of the season of our lives: What should I be doing with my time?
Thanks for joining me on the journey!
