Why I Wanted an FBI Interrogator at the Dealership

We just went through the process of buying a used car.

It made me regret not being better at poker, so I could more easily tell when someone was bluffing.  I guess this is why you bring an FBI interrogator with you to the dealership.  And a mechanic.  And probably a police officer.

I just had this thought.  You could have a friend come with you and pretend to be an FBI interrogator:

Car salesman: Hi, I’m Al.

Me: I’m Scott.  I brought along “Steve”, an FBI interrogator.  He’ll be able
to tell me if you’re lying.  Why don’t you go ahead and tell me about this
Honda.

Maybe next time.

We did end up getting a car.  But only because a person I trusted told me about a person he trusted who was selling a car.

Character matters.  Your word matters.  Being trustworthy matters.  Having a friend you can trust matters.

Thanks for joining me on the journey!

Scott
